The First Transport Is Away

Well, the seeding for 2010 has begun. In addition to some flowers for the wife, I started marigolds for the garden - no, not to eat them. By the time the vegetable plants are ready to transplant in late May, the marigolds are flowering. The bright yellow flowers attract bees who subsequently return when the vegetables are flowering and help with pollination.

I also seeded the tomatoes as well. I'm trying seven varieties in all - all for the first time, and all of them are open-pollinated, if not heirlooms.
